SuperMarioLand released for the year 1989 by Nintendo. When all of Mario's lives drop down to zero, the game will end. The GameOver screen will land on a level, with the white banner and black text "GameOver" will scroll up. After the GameOver music ends, it will return to the title screen.
In SuperMarioLand, all enemies disappear and "GAMEOVER" appears from the bottom of the screen. If the player earned 100,000 points or more upon receiving a GameOver, they can use a continue to restart from the level in which they obtained the GameOver.

Mario's second Game Boy adventure introduces Wario as the main antagonist. Players explore six distinct zones to collect golden coins and reclaim Mario's stolen castle in this nonlinear platformer with power-ups including the Bunny Mario transformation.
The game received two sequels: SuperMarioLand 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992) and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (1994), the latter of which spawned the Wario Land sub-series. SuperMarioLand was later re-released via the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 and on Nintendo Switch Online in 2024.
